In 1970, the South Mountain YMCA was created to fulfill a need in the Maplewood/South Orange communities for teen programming. Our organization is committed to serving this population with programs designed by our youth, for our youth. We believe that lasting personal and social change happens when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.

Teen Programs

Teen Leaders Interact Club (Grades 6-12)
American Red Cross Babysitting Training Course
(Grades 6-10)
This popular course gives 11–15-year-olds the knowledge, skills, and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. Training consists of hands-on skills, activities, and discussions on how to respond to emergencies, illnesses, first aid, rescue breathing, and appropriate care of children. At completion, all participants receive an American Red Cross Certification Card. Materials and snacks will be provided. Early registration is strongly advised.
