A Letter from the Desk of..

Paul Kieltyka, Executive Director,

Greetings South Mountain YMCA Members,

Another summer is nearing an end and we are all gearing up for the coming school year.  The higher level of activity that your children have enjoyed during these summer months is something we here at the South Mountain YMCA want to help continue throughout the coming Fall Season. After the recent summer Olympics, your children may have a new, or renewed, interest in gymnastics. We are one of the few YMCA’s in the state which offers excellent progressive instruction for ages 2 through 12, as well as a competitive gymnastics team.

We are pleased to report that we have recently launched our new website, allowing us an easier process to keep you updated with the very latest events and opportunities offered here at the South Mountain YMCA.  With the launching of this new website, you are now able to renew your membership, as well as register for classes, directly online at your convenience.

In response to the requests of many of our members, we are also introducing the opportunity for everyone to register for both the Fall I and Fall II programs at the same time!  Now, starting on August 11th you will be able to plan out the activities for you and your children for the entire Fall season.

As adults, I am sure most of us have fond memories of recess from our childhoods. While we agree that today’s society has evolved since these times, we are going to try to replicate the spirit and innocence of these “free periods of play” with your children today.  “Play for Fun” is a new program that will be driven by the imagination of the children themselves. They will be challenged to use their creative and innovative skills to make up games & activities that provide not only physical exercise, but a huge amount of self-esteem and fun. Adult supervision is provided, but remember, the main component of this class is based around the children playing - just like the old days.

These are only a few of the changes that you will see for your benefit this fall. We recognize that you want quality, flexibility and convenience from our staff and programs.  We will never lose sight of this service while continuing our mission to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

Best Regards,

Paul Kieltyka

Executive Director
