THE SUSSEX COUNTY YMCA: A PLACE FOR EVERYONE
At the Sussex County YMCA, no one is turned away because of the inability to pay. We provide financial assistance to local children, teens, adults, seniors and families in need of YMCA programs and services. This is our most important program and we do need your help toward ensuring that no youth, teen, adult or family will be deprived of the opportunity to enrich their lives through participating in our programs that build spirit, mind and body.
Last year the Sussex County YMCA raised an incredible $127,412 thanks to the generosity of our donors and the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. This made a huge impact on keeping YMCA memberships and programs accessible to everyone in Sussex County. During 2007, we provided financial assistance to send 51 children to Day Camp, 9 children to Before and After School Child Care and 6 teens to Leadership Camp. We also offered 45 adults, 3 young adults, 21 single parent families, 24 families, 16 seniors and 4 teens financial assistance for memberships, enabling the Sussex County YMCA to become a positive influence in their lives!
On top of all that, the Strong Kids Campaign subsidized a number of events open to the community, including Healthy Kids Day, America on the Move Day, Senior Days and Family Nights. By providing these programs, we were able to serve thousands of Sussex County YMCA members and many more from our community.

The need in our community is great, but you can make a difference! The Sussex County YMCA’s 2008 Strong Kids Campaign Goal is $157,000. Your support is crucial and provides the funds needed to make these programs available, providing the recreational, learning and life-enhancing experiences that build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. Each dollar contributed to the Strong Kids Campaign stays in Sussex County and goes directly to making YMCA programs and membership available to those in need.
